Eric Hiller

Piano

Eric Hiller grew up in Baltimore and attended St. Mary's College of Maryland (Bachelor of Arts) and
Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University (Master of Music in Piano Performance). Over
the past decade and a half, he has taught piano and performed as a collaborative pianist throughout the
Chicago and Baltimore areas.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Students of any age and background can develop in their musicianship and grow their musicality.
I structure lessons around helping students recognize and internalize the elements of music. Emphasis is
placed on skill development and problem-solving so that students gradually form the means of directing
their own development. By encouraging inquisitiveness, facilitating a broadening of awareness, and
treating learning as a series of explorations, I work to guide students in developing a discipline which
allows for focused progress and enjoyable practice.
